Read this and you will have a sure guide in dealing with the errors of Modernism so rampant today. On Contempt for the World or De Contemptu Mundi By St Eucherius of Lyons Life and Doctrine of St Catherine of Genoa - 1907 Spiritual Dialogues of St Catherine of Genoa - 1907 Treatise on Purgatory by St Catherine of Genoa 1858 Modernism by Cardinal Mercier - 1912 Excerpt from: The Sincere Christian: Instructed in the Faith From the Written Word by the RT. This will help clarify for all Catholics why we should NOT be reading non Catholic religious books and how dangerous it is for our soul to be doing so. Another Excerpt from: The Sincere Christian: Instructed in the Faith From the Written Word by the RT. REV. Bishop Hay (1729 - 1811) "Of Communicating with those out of the Church" Book is undated but clearly from the mid 1800's or earlier. Catholic Prayers: English and Latin I was going to add the Raccolta 1957 Edition as a book, but I believe it would be better to just add Catholic prayers alphabetically(English) with the Latin version if available. I have quite a few old prayer books that I can take from also besides the 720 page Raccolta so in time this could be a very large Catholic Prayer Collection. Please have patience as all this typing takes time! The Practice of the Love of Jesus Christ by St Alphonsus Liguori The Chronicle of the Canons Regular of Mount St. Agnes by Thomas A Kempis - 1906 The Consolation of the Devout Soul by (Venerable) Very Rev Joseph Frassinetti - 1876 Reflections on Spiritual Subjects and of the Passion of Jesus Christ by St Alphonsus Liguori - 1849 The Catholic Dogma (There is No Salvation Outside of the Catholic Church) by Fr Michael Muller - 1888 Catholic ebooks recently completed and soon to be added to this site:
A Beggar and No Beggar by Thomas A Kempis 1813 I would also like eventually to start and build a page with links to specific themes such as a page on Obedience that would contain works and excerpts from works that pertain solely to Obedience. There are many topics that could thus be covered and I believe it would be a valuable resource. ********************************************************************************************* NOTE: All of the works that we put online are unedited unless otherwise noted. We have been editing how scripture verses are cited. For example, in older books it might say, Psalms xliii. 6. which we have changed to Psalms 43:6. No change in meaning but easier for everyone to understand. With some of the soon to be added ebooks I have done editing as a result of very old English where the s looks like an f and words like believeth becomes believes and archaic words are translated as close to the actual meaning as possible. I am very sensitive to not altering the original author's intent and meaning. Thanks for your understanding! I have been asked, why do I put up ebooks or free versions on this site of books that I have in print with St Athanasius Press which is my own publishing company. The short answer is that my highest priority is to make solid Catholic material available to everyone. The longer answer is I believe people are still going to buy solid Catholic books or ebooks. Yes, it may cost me sales, but we are really talking about the salvation of others and not my profit or lack thereof. And as far as profit is concerned, I am more interested in any spiritual profit that I may benefit from than any temporal profit. I am confident that I will be able to devote all my time and energy to St Athanasius Press in the next few years 24/7. The hardest part for me has been the time that has been necessary to take to work elsewhere to provide for my family and to keep St Athanasius Press debt free. So its been slow, but steady progress. Another blessing is that all our books are print on demand. They look just like any other book. Ours so far have been in paperback, but we could produce hard cover as well. The beauty of print on demand is my titles will never, ever go out of print! How many times has a great title been allowed to go out of print? Too many! There are thousands of solid Catholic books that need to be brought back into print so today's and future generations can be blessed with Catholic Truth.
